The refiner's fire is hot. Uncomfortable. Necessary. It looks different for everyone. With each experience it becomes clearly recognizable. As my silversmith, “He will sit as a refiner and purifier of silver” and watch me every second as He heats me up to bring the impurities to the surface to wipe them away until He sees His reflection in me. Malachi 3:3
Once, I felt the refiners fire heating me up and I had no idea why...but it was there and it was hot! What I asked Him for next still surprises me. “Lord, I know it is You heating me up to burn out impurities. Will you do me a favor? Keep the heat on as high as You need to so we can get through this quicker. I don’t want to hurt anyone in this process and I know I’m capable of letting my dross spew onto other people.”
He answered me, He cleansed me, He healed me. By the next day we made it through that process and I was made new for that moment; until the next time.
He is now bringing seeds of unforgiveness I’ve sown to the surface and asking if I’m willing to forgive the offense. The refiner's fire is hot. Uncomfortable. Necessary. And yes Father, I will forgive.
