I try to follow politics, but honestly, they all begin to sound like Charlie Brown's teacher after a while. Although I do have a favorite candidate that stands out above the rest in my eyes, I still get very frustrated with the meaningless junior high high exchanges between the media and the candidates and the candidates in and amongst themselves. When one-ling zingers are considered the highlights of the evening, I begin to question our collective intelligence as a body of people. What are we looking for in a leader? What am I looking for in a leader?
A little self-examination time led me to the reason for my frustration. I know there's nothing new under the sun, but what I long for is one original thought. Some sincere, uncoached, non-pc words that will cause me to look from my iPad or iPhone and give 100% of my attention to being inspired. I long for someone who will tell the truth no matter the cost. I long for someone who is unchanging in their beliefs in the face of controversy, in the face of the culture, in the face of adversity. And then it hit me.
I long for Jesus.
And He's not running for office. Simply, because He doesn't have to. He's already on the throne and always will be—unchanging, unmoving, unwavering...Jesus.
