This is your brain. This is your brain full of crating ideas. Any questions?
I just received some fun mail recently. I love to cross stitch! I especially love the cross stitch magazines from England; they are the best. Inside one of the magazines was an advertisement for a cross stitch pattern with your surname and family crest.
I ordered my pattern and instead of sending it digitally, they sent it snail mail, from England. (Gotta say, I love getting mail from around the world.) Anyway, the pattern says when finished it will be about an 8X10 size. This is all part of the grand plan for my empty wall in my dining room.
I've had a plan for this wall for a long time. My plan is to make a family tree wall. I've been collecting our family photos of couples around the time of their weddings. Usually the age of the couples getting married were around their 20-30's. This is when people, typically, look their best (which is funny since I'm in my 40's now). I am trying to go as far back in the family tree with photos as I can. So far, I have mine and my husband's parents, our grandparents (but one), my great-grandparents and even a great-great grandparent. I like the idea of seeing family, and looking in the faces of people that shaped our lives, even if we've never met. Looking at the faces that resemble my face. Seeing where we've come from. Showing my children the family line and sharing stories with them about my grandparents and my parents.
Another reason for collecting the photos, is that my sister and I are doing family history. She did some work on Ancestry.com and I will be doing some more of this, this year as well. My mom and dad's family have already done some of the research, which is very helpful! But this year, my sister found out that one of my mom's family was in the Civil War (which we already knew) and was captured at Gettysburg and sent to Libby Prison, where he died of disease two months later.
But the Ancestry.com project will have to be put on hold, till I can do this wall. AHHHH . . . my brain is a swirl of project ideas! Now . . . how to organize it!
This project will be on going. Please check back next week to see me start the cross stitch family crest. Ever wonder how to cross stitch (or how to ruin your eyesight....LOL!), I will show you steps to learning cross stitch. There may even be a contest coming up with a handmade prize. Stay tuned!
