Two words that seem so inadequate, but when said from the heart, completely sincere.
Your prayers, your words of encouragement, your 'I'm just so sorry's' have lifted us up and kept us going, and at times kept us still, thanking the Lord for the people He has surrounded us with.
With every hug, email, facebook message, text, I am reminded of what I am most thankful for—relationship. The ins and outs of doing life together. Even when it gets sticky and ugly, working through it and coming out on the other side. That's the good stuff.
Diana and I didn't have a perfect relationship. Part of the beauty of us—we were real with each other. Many sessions of sitting across from the table with steaming hot cups of coffee, eyeball to eyeball, disagreeing, calling one another out, but coming together on our commitment to love the Lord and love one another. That's what I'll miss the most.
And, yet, there are others that pour into me, and now in some cases, it's my turn to pour into them.
As our family continues to face the unknown, specifically my brother's illness, I covet your prayers on his behalf and ours. God is faithful and His will is sovereign. And . . . (This took me a long time to write and longer to mean—years) I TRUST HIM. Those are not empty words of a brainwashed preacher's kid. Those are gut-wrenching I know who You are but don't like You at all, and I'm going to fight You with everything I have inside me until I collapse into Your arms and weep words.
Thanks for being my people. Thanks for loving us. We love you right back.
I Thessalonians 5: 16 Rejoice always, 17 pray without ceasing, 18 give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.
