Ever feel unloved or unlovable? It’s a vicious cycle when our feelings don’t match reality and then we create a new reality in our minds of feeling unloved. I’m a caregiver by nature and have a bad habit of giving to others to the point of feeling ‘give out’. Recently, I found myself in such a state. Communicating with anyone from that point of view is hard. Thankfully, I know the Author of Love.
Knowing I needed to be taken care of like I take care of people, I went for a massage. My massage therapist and I prayed before and during the massage. Our Heavenly Father asked her to sweep her hands lightly across my back.
Lord, I don’t do that. Even though hesitant, she complied.
Only my Heavenly Father could take me back to a memory and completely fill me with love through a touch I’d forgotten. I remember waking from naps and my daddy would be watching me, lovingly stroking my hair and back and I would wake knowing I was loved. I often gaze at my sleeping children in wonder and delight, sharing this same expression of love. I began to weep as my massage therapist allowed herself to be an instrument in His hands as He reminded me of pure sweet love and filled my heart to overflowing.
That moment set the stage for good communication that began in love. If you feel unloved or unlovable and need to be filled with love, let me tell you about a man named Jesus.
