Recently I had the opportunity to fly with some friends to Atlanta for a day of creative inspiration. As we took off from Ocala and headed north we were greeted with a beautiful sunrise which gave light to God's incredible creation below. As we continued our journey I noticed a river below. This was particularly fun for me because I love water. My dream home would most certainly be on some body of water. Anyway, I digress. This river caught my attention because of the path it was weaving through the woods below. This river wasn't straight at all! It more closely resembled a rope that had been dropped on the ground. I immediately began thinking of how that river resembles my life, and I'm willing to go out on a limb and guess it looks a lot like yours too. Life is unpredictable and rarely do we have the privilege of not experiencing twists, turns, trials and heartbreak mixed with victories, joy, encouragement, healing and love.
Growing up I had a great plan for my life. Let me quickly share that the life I enjoy today doesn't match the visions I had growing up at all. That isn't a disappointment to me. The life God has blessed me with is so much more than I could've ever dreamed of or hoped for. I have been the recipient of Ephesians 3:20....Now to him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us. And I'm incredibly grateful because I recognize that in my own strength and power I'm nothing more than a wretch that has been saved by the grace of a gracious Heavenly Father.
Life is, at the very least, an incredible journey. Just like that river was leaving its mark on the land below, each of us has an opportunity to leave our mark on the world we inhabit. And I'm grateful that in the book of Jeremiah we can cling to the promise that God has an amazing future in store for each of us. The challenge for us is to seek God with all of our heart. Does this describe you? If not, what is holding you back? So buckle up and enjoy this wild ride!
11 For I know the plans I have for you, declares the LORD, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.
12 Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will hear you.
13 You will seek me and find me, when you seek me with all your heart. - Jeremiah 29:11-13
