Have you ever had a sandpaper moment in a relationship? You know, where one thing the other person does rubs you raw? Recently, my spouse and I were in the midst of a sandpaper experience. We are human. We are all susceptible to being an irritant to someone we care about. My thoughts are, as long as we come out smoother and more refined afterward, these times are good for growth. This particular time, God gave me new insight and words to unlock the door and throw it wide open for communication.
“Satan hates you. Satan hates me. But, he especially hates WE.” I shared this early one morning and we both got it. When we were able to identify the source trying to pull us apart it was easy to overcome. All types of relationships are at risk: marriages, parents/children, friendships, brothers and sisters in Christ, the list could go on…
WE are stronger together (Ecclesiastes 4:12). Let’s stand together as a united WE and face each situation as it comes. The irritant, the sand, is eventually molded and created into a pearl of wisdom.
