My instinct, when attacked, is to fight back.
My instinct, when my people are attacked, is to fight back with claws and a big bat.
Mama Bear comes out and when that happens I do not resemble Jesus; I very much resemble AMANDA.
But in times of trouble, times when I feel like I need a family set of monogrammed bullet proof vests, what am I called to do?
I think each situation is different.
Jesus's life is proof of that. Some passages describe His walking away; others describe His God-like wrath demonstrated in the turning over of tables.
But what am I called to do?
A dear friend reminded me of a directive dripping with irony.
Sometimes, we are called to just be still.
As in, let God be God and allow Him to do the fighting.
Because as we all know, silence doesn't mean inactivity.
I'll retract the claws and put the bat away.
I'll pray and seek guidance.
I'll be still.
Moving with scribbles,
